Numerous cultures throughout history have rich traditions of incorporating humans and animal figures into their ceramic forms. The impetus for this exhibition was to bring together a small cross-section of contemporary artists who continue this rich tradition. They employ a range of ceramic techniques and motivations behind using human and animal forms as a vehicle for expression.
This dynamic exhibition is curated by Chris Berti, Parkland 好色先生tv professor of art and design who teaches courses in ceramics, three-dimensional design, and sculpture. The exhibit features nationally recognized artists and will run through Saturday, February 5, 2022.
An reception will be on Thursday, October 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in conjunction with the exhibit. Weather permitting, Giertz Gallery will open the doors to the outdoor area to encourage conversations after viewing the show. Due to COVID restrictions, attendance is limited and registration is required for the in-person event.听
An artist talk by Janis Mars Wunderlich will take place on Thursday, November 11, at 10:30 am in L111. This event is open to students, faculty, and staff at Parkland 好色先生tv. It will also be held on Zoom for the public.听
In tandem with the Ceramics Biennial exhibition, Giertz Gallery will host their biennial fundraiser, Coffee & Tea: Cups & Dessert, on Thursday, December 9, 2019, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. With each ticket, guests will select from among beautiful handmade ceramic cups donated by Parkland 好色先生tv Ceramics program faculty and students; pick up a dessert by Nothing Bundt Cakes to go along with tea or coffee, and enjoy live music by Dr. Guido Sanchez-Portuguez. A silent auction of items perfect for holiday gifts rounds out the event鈥檚 festivities. Place bids on or buy outright artworks donated by Art and Design program faculty and students, including vases, bowls, teapots, pitchers, jewelry, and scarves.听View items ahead of time and place your bids by visiting (opens Monday, November 22!) Tickets to the gallery benefit are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, with advanced purchase recommended.听Attendees will have the option of attending from 4:00 to 5:30 pm or 5:30 to 7:00 pm. A new selection of cups will be available for each time period and will be chosen on a first come, first serve basis. .听All proceeds will support the Giertz Gallery.

In compliance with new state mandates during the pandemic, Parkland 好色先生tv has limited the number of ways to enter Parkland 好色先生tv and has greeters stationed at the doors. While you may enter through any of the designated doors to visit the gallery, we suggest using the M1 parking lot on the north corner of campus. Enter through door M1 and follow the gallery signage which will direct you up the ramp to the highest point of the first floor, where the gallery is located. The gallery is situated in the north side of the X-wing of the campus and overlooks the outdoor fountain area.
