Jon has been an instructor for the automotive program for more than 20 years and served as program director for more than half that time. He's passionate about the hotrod and custom car world and has owned a number of great cars and trucks over the years. His current project is a fuel injected 1961 Chevrolet Biscayne with coil-over suspension, 6-speed manual transmission, and air-conditioning. Previous projects included a GMC Cyclone, a Buick Grand National, and a 1957 Chevrolet Belair.
Jon worked as a line technician for a Chevrolet dealer and on a road race team prior to working as a technical assistant rep for Chevrolet in Detroit. Prior to coming to Parkland in the fall of 1997, he was a warranty rep with Cummins Engine Co in Columbus, IN.
As an ASE certified technician, Jon has achieved over 20 hours of updated technical training each year. Serving as the faculty advisor for the Parkland-run race car in the motorsport technology program takes him and his students to race tracks and motorsport events throughout the Midwest each year.
